Bucs Turnover Win to Bears

The Buccaneers went into Soldier Field, to play Josh McCown and Coach Lovie's old team, on a cool rainy day where both teams combined to play a sloppy football game. Turnovers and penalties held the Bucs down to 13 points and the loss.

The Buccaneers were 7 of 17 on 3rd down and had 9 penalties for 87 yards. The Bucs had 4 turnovers (2 fumbles, 2 ints)

For the first half the Buccaneers shutout the Bears and held the Bears offense to under 100 yards total.

The Bears had 21 unanswered points in the third quarter off of 3 Buccaneer turnovers. That's when the wheels of the wagon fell off. It seems like we couldn't find our rhythm and sustain a consistent drive.

The Bucs were sacked five times for 40 yards. One thing I notice also is that we only had 22 carries in a game for a total of 66 yards. We can't control the clock like that especially when we are dominating.  The Bucs had 30:00 min TOP.
We should not have given the Bears that much time with the ball on offense.

Mike Evans scored the only touchdown for Tampa Bay, a 19 yard reception. He still continues to be one of the best rookie receivers in the NFL.

I lean towards OC Arroyo for not adjusting when the pressure was coming up the middle. He kept sending out 5 receivers when the Bears were rushing five to six men. He should have kept two RBs for pass blocking.

There were times when McCown held the ball too long trying to do too much. It looked like he was putting too much effort into trying to make a point returning back to Chicago. It was a tough loss for the Bucs. Now it's off to next week at home against Cincinnati.

How do you feel about this Bears game?

Measuring Social Marketing ROI

In today's marketing world one of the biggest challenges that brands are trying to understand is how to measure ROI in their social marketing strategy. The one thing about measuring ROI is that the equation to figure out the ROI is no longer the same.

There was a time where people didn't know that a brand existed until they saw the advertisements of that brand.  So catching a potential customer's interest and capitalizing, on the spot, was very crucial. The marketing strategy had to captivate the customer and entice them to use the brand. That method allowed marketing ROI to be measured easily.

In the social media era it's a little different.  Talking about a brand and brand transparency are what allows potential customers to come to a understanding of the brand, which could turn them into paying customers. In the past a customer would buy the product or use a service to find out what it was all about. ROI was easy to measure on those bases.

Nowadays, a person will engage with the brand or listen to other customer's reviews on social media before trying the product or service. Since many people are doing that it would be difficult to understand the impact a marketing dollar has on potential customers.

Even though in business it's all about the money, brands should focus more on ROE ( Rate of engagement) to get a idea of the impact that their social media strategy is accomplishing. There is a correlation between customer engagement and customer purchases that can not be ignored.

A brand's following and engagement will give more of a clear analysis of its ROI than any other measurement used before.

Cuddle for Hire???

A business model that is picking up momentum in our economy and it's getting some conversations started and eye brows raised is hiring individuals for hugs. That's right, hiring cuddlers. You can buy 30 minutes or an hour session of cuddle time with, I guess, a professional cuddler.

Would you pay to cuddle?

Bucs Rob Redskins and Takes Win

The Buccaneers went into Fed Ex Stadium and handled the Redskins in a great defensive show out 27-7. The defense forced three turnovers and sacked RG3 six times. One of those turnovers was a pick 6 TD by J banks.

On offense it was just another day at the office for rookie wide receiver Mike Evans. He had 7 catches for 209 yards and two touchdowns. One of those touchdowns was a 56 yard TD across the middle. The young look is setting records.

McCown was pretty good throwing for 288 and completing 73% of his passes.

Bucs Weekly Struggles Continues

It's week 10 of the NFL 2014 season and we are sitting at 1 & 8. Many people and fans are speculating that the team is playing bad and the players are terrible. We cannot forget that a player can give a 110% but if he's in the wrong place its for nothing.  Performance of the players is dictated by the orchestrator of the unit.

In our case our offensive coordinator is a rookie himself calling plays. He's a young guy that was hired as a quarterback coach that worked with Tedford in the past. I didn't think he was planning on calling plays this year when he was hired as the QB coach. With Tedford being out it was left up to Arroyo to steer the ship.

Tough task to ask someone who's never played at that level. If we look at the situations on how we lost at least five games under 7 points we can pinpoint a couple of times where situational play calling hurt us at certain drives. Having blocked field goals and many 3 and outs are a result of putting ourselves in tough situations at bad times.

Many of the true fan base understood that this new coaching regime would have trouble and sputter from the beginning. We have the talent that will be monstrous as they gel together this year. So by next year this team will be hitting on all cylinders.

Many argue that we should draft a quarterback with our number one pick. To have someone new to come in and try to gel, with 10 men who are already playing as a unit, will be difficult for that rookie.
It's not impossible but what are the odds of it happening?

My opinion is that we should draft heavy on defense and make sure that if we go 3 and out on offense that we make sure the opponents go 3 and out as well.

I also feel we should use our #1 pick as bait to the highest offer.

One side note, Mike Evans is going to end up top 5 in history

Buccaneers " Jekyll and Hyde" Their Way to a Loss with Browns

Another week goes by and the Buccaneers found a way to not find that winning edge that it takes to close out a game in the fourth quarter. As a team we recovered well from the blocked and missed FGs in the first qtr. On our third drive, of the game, Glennon throws an INT. I feel we should have continued running the ball instead of throwing. Even though Vjax caught the 3rd and 1, running on first is always a high percentage play for yardage.

In the second quarter we had an 8 play drive that resulted in a TOUCHDOWN. We only got to 3rd down once that drive and that's when we hit "Good Times" Evans for the 24yd TD.

Next Browns series we get an INT and are at the CLE 10yd line. I feel we shouldn't have abandoned the run so quick just because Rainey had a loss of 5 yards. Glennon throws and INT.

Even with a couple of bad play calls the Bucs were in control in the first half.

Coming out of halftime we did ok in the 3rd by matching the Browns TD and making them punt two times. 4th qtr is what killed us. We had (2) three and outs, one coming after we picked of the Browns and had the ball on our 39yd line. After they scored in 2 plays we punt the ball back to them in 4 plays.

We couldn't produce any points during crunch time or sustain a consistent game plan that kept drives alive in the second half. The straw that broke the camels back was having 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and 1 and threw all three times. At some point Lovie should have done something to gain that single yard that we needed. It's very disappointing to see the Bucs come out with so much intensity to only lose the momentum and intensity in the second half.

FINAL: Bucs 17 Browns 22 highlights
