Another End of Days Prediction

Through out the existence of human life many humans have tried to predict when the end of the world was going to occur.

I've always wondered what are they focusing on that allows them to make a bold prediction of a great change? Here is one thing that I feel many people are focusing on when they are predicting the end of the world.
